If your children’s school  or Nursery is celebrating Roald Dahl Day on September 13th 2018 and taking part in the Dahlicious Dress up Day (to raise money for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity) then look no further for costume ideas.

Whether your keen to make your own or would like it to be hassle free and ordered…we’ve chosen our top ten Roald Dahl Day costumes here:

1. Willy Wonka (Charlie and The Chocolate Factory)

Perhaps one of the most iconic and recognisable of Roald Dahl’s characters.

2. George (George’s Marvellous Medicine)-

Really simple one for those not that keen on dressing up- all you’d need is a container of his pretend medicine to hold!

3. Miss Spider (James and Giant Peach)

Arguably one of the most interesting characters to dress up as from James and the Giant Peach.

4. Matilda

We love Matilda- it’s such a magical story and dressing up as Matilda is a lovely, simple one- they just need a blue dress and headband.

5. BFG

A funny one to dress up as- you could buy one of the fantastic costumes available for this one- or you could make some carboard ears and attach them to a headband!

6. A Golden Ticket (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory)

Who says they need to be a character? Why not fashion a bit of cardboard with a cut out for the head- and paint/draw on it to make it look like a golden ticket?

7. Twits

Messy clothes, scruffy hair and a walking stick and you’ve got this costume sorted!

8. Mr/Mrs Fox (Fantastic Mr Fox)

Fantastic Mr Fox is a very popular Roald Dahl book and there are so many options of how to dress up as fox. You could buy the costume, make a fox mask or even use face paints.

9. Oompa Loompa (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory)

Overalls, green hair and the option of face paints.

10. A Witch (The Witches)

A lovely simple costume choice that’s great for children and teachers alike!
