Hello and welcome to my website.

Who am I?

I’m Georgina Durrant, a mum of two and qualified teacher/former head of Special Educational Needs in a Secondary School (SENDCO). I also tutor children with Special Educational Needs (find out more here).

Books

I’m author of two books, published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers:

– My first book was ‘100 Ways Your Child Can Learn Through Play‘ which was published in June 2021.

– My second book is ‘How to Boost Reading and Writing Through Play‘ was published November 2022

– Third book, to be published by Bloomsbury, due out 2024.

Qualifications

I have a BSc (Hons) in Medical Science, PGCE with QTS, National Award for Special Education Coordination, Post Graduate Diploma in Vulnerable Learners and Inclusion and Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing. I’m also a Registered Test User with the British Psychological Society.

Experience

I host a popular Special Educational Needs Podcast ‘SEND in the experts with Georgina Durrant

I wrote a monthly column on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) for Nursery World Magazine.

I have a popular YouTube channel of activities for parents and teachers of children with Special Educational Needs and disabilities which can be found here

Services

I am a speaker at education conferences, webinars and schools about SEND, play, literacy, education and parenting. I’ve also been part of a Parliamentary Round Table on SEND (specifically dyslexia).

I also provide SEND/education consultancy services to education based businesses and TV and broadcasting services.

My advice and education/parenting expertise is regularly featured in the press including The Guardian, Telegraph, Independent, Metro, Stylist Magazine, Prima, TES, SEN Magazine, BBC Radio stations etc. (for more info see here)

What’s The SEN Resources Blog all about?

The SEN Resources Blog is an award winning site that I founded initially to share my thoughts, recommendations and ideas of learning resources and activities for children with special educational needs.

Since then The SEN Resources Blog has been voted as one of the Top Ten SEN Blogs in the UK by Twinkl. It’s been featured in The Guardian, Telegraph, SEN Magazine and the Daily Mirror. I’ve also been on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio Manchester and TalkRadio! I was chosen by Theo Paphitis (from Dragon’s Den) for his Small Business Awards.

The SEN Resources Blog is currently visited by thousands of parents and teachers every week, often daily and we have a very strong social media following.
