Many kids love imaginative play. As I’ve written in my previous post– it can also help them to make sense of this crazy world we live in! Last time we had a go at playing post office– which was great fun.
Playing shops is always a hit. But why not throw in some real food, a wallet, bag and ‘play money’ and make it even more exciting.
Without realising, kids learn and develop :
- Basic maths– numbers, counting, simple addition.
- Life skills– process of shopping, what a barcode is, how to use a card/money.
- Vocabulary– food names etc
- Manners– pleases, thank yous, queuing etc.
