Children's Book Review

Review: Cat & Mouse in a Haunted House by Geronimo Stilton

It’s Halloween tomorrow so we’ve been reading Cat & Mouse in a Haunted House by Geronimo Stilton
Featuring a Mouse called Geronimo Stilton, this exciting (and can I say..cheesy!) book is just the right amount of scary for young children.
Geronimo gets lost in a spooky forest and ends up having to spend the night in a haunted house!

What did we like about it?

  • Problem Solving Skills: This book is fantastic for developing a child’s problem Solving Skills. Throughout the book are various clues that children can take note of in order to solve the mystery!
  • Not Too Frightening– We loved that this book was not too scary for young children. Unlike Geronimo, his sister  is very laid back -by including this character it provides balance and helps keep the book from being frightening.
  • Illustrations– The book has fantastic, funny illustrations throughout that help further engage readers and fuel their imaginations.
  • Funny–  With it’s cheese based puns and many misunderstandings my children were laughing along to this book. We particularly loved the full page pictures, including a map, that provided depth and insight into Geronimo’s world.
