Today we’ve been reading (and singing!) our way through this lovely version of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star by David Ellwand (Old Barn Books)
With terrific teddy bear illustrations, a button that plays the tune and lovely lyrics- this book is very engaging for children.
What did we like about it?
- Nursery Rhymes Develop Speech, Language and Communication Skills: There’s a reason why generation upon generation have been taught nursery rhymes like this one, not only are they fun but they help develop Speech, language and communication skills. For example nursery rhymes help children learn simple words through repetition, learn how to sound out words and practice their volume and pitch.
- Relaxing- Music can have a calming effect on children. This book by David Ellwand cleverly includes a button to play the tune of Twinkle Twinkle to accompany the book and help children further relax during story time.
- Illustrations– The illustrations feature teddies acting out the lyrics. My children found them funny and adorable. It had them giggling away and chatting about what each teddy was doing. Great for engaging children and encouraging talking.
