Exciting and fun rainy-day activity to engage children…can even tempt those who say they ‘don’t enjoy crafts’!
What will you need?
- PVA glue + water to make paper mache mix.
- Strips of newspaper/paper
- Paintbrush
- String (to hang it)
- Balloon
- Scissors
- Paint (optional)
- Adult supervision and help
Develops: hand eye coordination, fine motor skills and creative thinking.
Step 1: Blow up a balloon. Mix pva glue and water together. Put the strips of newspaper/paper on the balloon and cover in the glue/water solution.
Step 2: Keep going until you’ve done at least two layers of paper (the more layers, the stronger the egg)
Step 3: Tie string to your balloon and hang somewhere to dry (probably overnight)
Step 4: (best bit!) pop the balloon!!
Step 5: Carefully use scissors (adults do this!!) to cut open the ‘egg’ and (if available) put in your dinosaur toy! You could also extend this activity to paint the egg.
