Review: Primary Science Lab Set by Learning Resources UK

The former Science teacher in me did a little LEAP for joy this week as we found this wonderful Primary Science Lab Set by Learning Resources UK. Designed for children aged 3 and up, this Lab Set enables them to try out a whole range of fun science experiments at home or school (with adult support).

I’d thoroughly recommend it, so much fun! In the Lab Set you get a pipette, flask, bung, beaker, filter, tweezers, test tubes, test tube racks, goggles and a magnifying glass!

What did we like about it?

  • The excitement it created! The children were absolutely besides themselves with excitement to ‘have a go’ with the Primary Science Lab Set. What’s fantastic is it is REAL science equipment and it works and they can actually do experiments with it. This isn’t a toy! And I think that’s what the children were most excited about.

  • Safety- I’m a mum and my safety radar is ever present! Therefore, I was pleased to see that this Primary Science Lab Set has safety at the forefront. Firstly the equipment is made of plastic and not glass, so it will bounce not smash. Secondly the Primary Science Lab Set includes a fabulous pair of bright green safety goggles to keep little ones eyes safe. My only improvement would to have been two pairs of goggles included, so that siblings/friends could do this together.

  • Suitable Experiments- The Primary Science Lab Set comes with a set of experiment cards which provide instructions of how to safely carry out various different practicals. The experiments are well though through, easy to do at home (we had most of the ingredients in the cupboard) and are pretty exciting! We had great fun mixing coloured water and learning about primary and secondary colours. And we had huge giggles creating a mini volcano!!
